It is not a “resort” in the true sense of the word and does not cater for the package holiday industry – those activities take place much further to the north. The shops, bars and restaurants of the town are open all year round, to cater for a population which is either resident in the area, or enjoying a stay in a holiday home owned by themselves or relatives. So that the town did not become overcrowded with vehicles, underground car parks have been built. The promenades have been beautifully repaved, exquisite fountains have been constructed and many facilities have been added or improved so that the quality of life is even greater now than it was before.
